Epic Camp: New Zealand 2011

The Epic Challenge Double Whammy.

EC:NZ’11 is set to commence from Dunedin on Thursday 6th January 2011.

This year we’ve added some spice to the camp and we’re teaming up with the good folk at Challenge Wanaka to offer a race on the final day of the camp. If you haven’t heard about Challenge Wanaka check it out here.

This race has been voted one of the top 10 most scenic races in the world. It’s a stunning venue and excellently organised race. For those who don’t think they can bite off a Half IM tri at the end of the camp there is a team option.

Epic Camp is ideal for:

  • Athletes who feel they have plateau’d and need something extra to giving them the winning edge
  • Preparing for a specific race
  • Finding a challenge that supersedes a one day ultra distance race
Riding some of the most awesome scenery in the world on the quiet roads of New Zealand
  • Rub shoulders with World Champion Scott Molina, world class age group athletes and selected pro athletes
  • Getting the hell out of the Northern hemisphere winter and having a good time with like minded athletes

The Route:

We’ve set out a very cool route on some new roads we’ve never used before as well as once or two of our classic rides. We start the camp in the capital of the South - Dunedin. We’ve found some spectacular riding around the Otago area during the 2010 Length of NZ camp we are excited to be returning to the region. After a couple of days in Dunedin we zig zag our way up to Queenstown via Middlemarch, Alexandra and Gore. This will be great riding on quiet roads and some awesome vistas. Queenstown is always a highlight of any camp with its majestic scenery. Then we make our way up the road to Wanaka to compete the camp with Challenge Wanaka.

Scheduled Elite and Coaching Participants:

  • Scott Molina, World Champion and Elite Triathlon Coach
  • John Newsom, Elite triathlete and Coach
  • One or two top pro athletes TBD
